Features & Capabilities

Challenge the way you think about racism and look at life through someone else’s eyes. Take the Everyday Racism challenge and experience what life can be like for ethnic and cultural minorities in Australia who face subtle forms of racism every day.

Everyday Racism is an immersive game played out over seven days, giving you an insight into the racial issues many face in Australia. Choose from one of three characters: a Muslim woman, an indigenous man or an Indian student, and for the next seven days you’ll receive simulated texts, tweets, images and videos as though you were them.

How will you respond? How will it make you feel? Can you handle it?

The game also gives you the opportunity to play as yourself, where you’ll witness incidents of racism and their effect on people around you.

The game has been produced by All Together Now in association with the University of Western Sydney, The University of Melbourne and Deakin University.

All Together Now is an independent Australian not-for-profit organisation. We aim to prevent racism by promoting racial equity through education.

There’s no option for black people, just Indian and Muslim discrimination. I understand those are very pressing matters, however every scenario is exactly the same! Let’s mix it up with some creativity.

I did not leave that review, that was my friend who is immature and thinks he is funny. I don’t support what he said. Sorry

I’ve played as all the characters, and found it interesting that 1, not only do I experience ALL of this, as a white man in Baltimore, but 2, I DONT have the community of support to tell me I don’t deserve it. Instead, I get an app that takes my life experiences, tells me I would only experience them if I weren’t white, and is over all a very outdated view of racism. If anything, this shows that racism has always been people choosing to make a big issue out of little things that everybody experiences. If that’s the point you wanted to make? Bravo. If not, I recommend you go back to the drawing board and figure out another way to capitalize on this continuing issue. Cuz you’re not the problem, we are 🙄.
