Features & Capabilities

Blast Baseball combines a bat-attached sensor system with the Blast Baseball app to deliver real-time swing analytics. The Swing Analyzer or Personal Swing Trainer attaches to any standard bat, using Bluetooth to capture 3D motion, automatically clip videos, and overlay metrics at impact (bat speed, time to contact, attack angle). The 3D Swing Tracer lets you replay your swing path instantly, and Live mode provides immediate visual feedback to guide adjustments.

With a membership or free trial, players and coaches receive automatic swing-quality assessments focused on plane, connection, and rotation. Coaching tools include mobile video analysis with voice-over and annotations, data trending, and actionable drills. Packages include the Swing Analyzer, charger, and bat attachment; advanced features require Blast Connect and Premium Services.

User Reviews

Users praise Blast Baseball for real-time swing metrics and immediate feedback, helpful for training and establishing baselines, easy sensor attachment, quick phone connectivity, and useful video review. However, recurring criticisms focus on subscription-driven access, with many noting that essential data and features are locked behind expensive plans or after a low swing limit. The app's UI is described as convoluted, making raw data hard to reach, and data/export options are inconsistent between the app and Blast Connect. Trust issues arise from perceived misrepresentation and shifting policies.
Pros
  • Real-time, multi-metric swing data (bat speed, attack angle, hand speed) with immediate app feedback.
  • Valuable for training and progress tracking; helps establish baselines and measure improvement.
  • Sensor attaches easily to the bat and connects quickly to a smartphone.
  • Impressive video capture that slows near contact and syncs with metrics for easy review.
  • Wide range of metrics and drills that support players, parents, and coaches.
Cons
  • Mandatory, expensive subscription to access most data and features.
  • Convoluted front-end UI that hides raw data behind Plane Score, Connection Score, and Rotation Score.
  • Data export and Blast Connect features are not consistently accessible from the app, leading to mismatched expectations.
  • Paywall gating basic metrics, including limits like 10 swings per day, which many users find unfair.
  • Perceived misrepresentation and poor customer support, with some reviewers calling the company untrustworthy.

They’ve scaled back the features which made this robust for an individual user that is not part of an organization. No way to export data to a spreadsheet which you could previously do via the website. This allowed for even more custom analytics and tracking over time than the basic ones they offer

We used to enjoy using this despite going from free use to paid use. We were willing to pay the monthly subscription. But we got kicked out of the app and when we try to log back in, it gives us error messages. When I go to forgot password, it says our credentials don’t exist. I emailed support and am getting no response. At this rate, I will probably cancel our subscription since it’s useless at this point and support is not willing to help. Beware that this is what you get.

I not only have 1, but 2 blast sensors. We love them from an analytics and performance standpoint. Although our first sensor will only last about a quarter of the length as our new sensor, 5 months old. Due to having to create separate account for both kids, we also have two subscriptions. Meaning having to log in and out for each child. Over the past 2 weeks, the app has stopped working. It will randomly crash, and at that point no longer open. No matter what solutions you try. Which means, every swing them becomes nonexistent after having to delete and redownload the app. We not only lost swing data, but also videos due to the service abandoning cloud connect. They have also abandoned in app features such as exit velocity. Both of which were selling points for the subscription service. Really unfortunate. Great hardware, but not useful due to the app failures.
