User Reviews

Reviews praise Glory of Generals: Pacific War for its deep, old-school strategic gameplay and strong replayability, plus offline play and retro WW2 flavor. However, players repeatedly cite balance and monetization issues—pay-to-win tendencies, difficult campaigns, and imbalanced factions—along with frustration with progress tracking and AI behavior. Some players still enjoy the core experience and request updates and enhancements (map editor, more generals). Overall, it appeals to strategy fans who value skillful play but can deter casual players due to monetization and balance concerns.
Pros
  • Deep, old-school WWII strategy gameplay that rewards careful planning.
  • High replay value and long-term engagement; players restart and replay for years.
  • Offline play with minimal interruptions; no ads and can be played without constant internet.
  • Nostalgic retro design that appeals to fans of classic strategy games.
  • Accessible core mechanics that emphasize skill and strategy over luck.
Cons
  • Heavy monetization and pay-to-win feel; progression often gated by medals/cash.
  • Campaign balance issues; some levels/factions feel overpowered or unfair.
  • Poor progress tracking; hard to tell which scenarios have been completed.
  • AI and ally behavior can hinder progress, with enemies advantaged or allies ineffective.
  • Requests for updates and features (map editor, more generals, expanded content) indicate ongoing support gaps.

I’ve played glory of generals 3, World conquerors 4 and 3 but this one out ranks them all, it might be a bit old school and it isn’t updated but this is a good game! I recommend playing it, I hope the developers come back to make it.

You guys should make an update to these old games, or make map editor for it, idk about the rest of everyone but I have probably played 10x over and still willing to restart, the first game is 5 star to, the 3rd game must say not as good as the first 2. 2025 update the 20th time I have deleted this game and restarted, should definitely throw another update in this game, not graphics wise I like this old school set up more content

Awesome old style strategy game, my only wish is that you could have more free play with your commander you upgrade, like you can choose which unit to attach it to. Also I would love if you could utilize your commander as an extra general in legion mode as well
