Find skippers who plan the same passage and sail it together, each on your own boat. Chat, fleet sheet and alerts for your sailing area.

BuddyBoat connects skippers with similar cruising plans so they can sail first-time or demanding passages together, each on their own boat. Nobody should have to give up a dream voyage out of uncertainty.

BuddyBoat is the app for the buddyboat.com portal: your account, passages, messages and profile are the same in the app and on the website, and you sign in with the same account.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Create a profile: your skills, your nautical, technical and meteorological experience, and your boat's equipment.
2. Offer a passage: post your planned route, the time frame and your experience profile.
3. Find a buddy: other skippers with the same route get in touch and join.
4. Plan together: the crews meet in person or online and agree on the route, the weather window and the radio check-ins.
5. Sail together: every boat remains fully responsible for itself, but the skippers support each other.
6. Recommend your buddies: after the passage, write a few words on each other's profiles.

WHAT THE APP OFFERS • Passages: search upcoming passages by sailing area, port and month, or offer your own. • Alerts: get an e-mail or a push notification as soon as someone offers a passage in your area. • Participants: see who sails along, with their boats and their experience on this passage. • Chat and fleet sheet: a chat for everyone aboard and a fleet sheet with call signs, MMSI, VHF working channel and radio check-ins, also for your shore contact. • Messages: write to any boat or skipper registered on BuddyBoat. • Buddies: keep the skippers you have sailed with and learn when they offer a new passage. • Know-how: find skippers who can help with a technical or nautical problem, by skill, experience and local knowledge. • Profile and boat: licences, radio certificates, sailing areas, languages, boat data and equipment.

BuddyBoat is free. Registration takes a minute; all you need is an e-mail address. To offer or join a passage, add your boat. The app is available in English, German, French, Italian, Dutch and Spanish and follows the language of your iPhone or iPad.
