Xin Nian is a quiet digital experience inspired by Taiwanese temple traditions.

Within a dark, realistic, and contemplative shrine setting, you can light incense for a wish, reflect on a question through moon-block casting, or follow the traditional process of drawing from the Sixty Jiazi fortune sticks.

【Incense Offering】

Choose Fude Zhengshen, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Guan Sheng Dijun, or Mazu, and offer incense before the corresponding shrine.

Once lit, the incense gradually burns down as smoke drifts through the scene. You may write down your wish or keep it silently in your heart, creating a brief moment to pause and settle your thoughts.

【Moon-Block Casting】

Consider one matter at a time, then cast the moon blocks by tapping the screen or using a physical motion with your phone.

Possible results include:

・Laughing result ・Yin result, also known as a covered result ・Sacred result

The same question must receive three sacred results in a row before it is shown as accepted. A laughing or yin result ends the current question, and you must begin again with a new question.

【Sixty Jiazi Fortune Sticks】

Experience a digital version of the traditional fortune-stick process. Shake the fortune-stick cylinder to draw a candidate stick, then cast the moon blocks to request confirmation.

A candidate stick must receive three consecutive sacred results to be formally confirmed. If a laughing or yin result appears, the candidate is set aside and another stick must be drawn.

Once confirmed, you can read the original verse, its traditional story and meaning, a plain-language interpretation, and guidance for different areas of life.
