STREAM A growing catalog of public-domain and Creative Commons piano music, starting with the Mutopia Project: Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, folk tunes, hymns, ragtime and more, sorted by genre. Every piece is downloaded completely before it starts, so the timing is always perfect: Pianexa schedules each note locally and never lets the network get in the way. Pieces you have played stay on your device for offline listening.

IMPORT Your own MIDI collection is the heart of the app. Open a .mid file from the Files app, iCloud Drive, Mail or any app that can share one, and it lands under My MIDI, side by side with the catalog. Imported songs go into the same playlists, favorites and queue.

PLAY A queue, playlists, favorites and recently played. Play, pause, seek and skip from the lock screen, Control Center, your headphones or the Dynamic Island. Playback continues in the background and while the device is locked.

MADE FOR PIANOS Pianexa sends the notes to a Yamaha Disklavier, PianoDisc, QRS or any other MIDI instrument over Bluetooth MIDI, USB or Wi-Fi. • Piano Volume: scales how hard each key is struck, for pianos that ignore MIDI volume. • Stop, pause and skip never leave a key down — every sounding note is released first. • Remembers your piano and reconnects when it comes back into range. • No piano nearby? Pianexa plays through the built-in piano sound of your device, with an optional concert grand you can download.

ON iPAD A three-column console: sidebar, content and the Now Playing pane with the queue, so browsing never hides the player.

A MIDI-capable piano or a Bluetooth MIDI adapter (such as the Yamaha MD-BT01) is needed to play on a real instrument; without one, Pianexa plays on the device itself.
