You don't pick photos. You don't write a travel journal. Open the app and the trips already in your camera roll turn into a map by themselves.

■ There is nothing to type in The first launch scans your library and ten years of travel appear at once. There is no screen for entering destinations. Capture dates and location data alone are enough to reconstruct each trip, the route you moved along, and the cities you stopped in.

■ One map for travel and for food Zoom out and it's a world map with the countries you've visited filled in. Zoom in and it's a city map with the food you ate. There is no mode switch — it's the same map at a different zoom.

■ It works out how you travelled From the distance, time and altitude between photos it tells flights from trains, cars, ferries and walking. If it's wrong, tap the line and fix it — your correction carries across similar legs of the same trip. Anything still estimated is drawn in grey, so you can see what the app is guessing.

■ Any number of years, one video A line leaves home, spreads across the world, photos pop up city by city, and it closes on "X km · Y times around the Earth · Z countries". Vertical, ready to post. Make it for one year or for ten.

■ Your home never appears in what you share Everything within a set distance of your home (50 km by default) — places, photos and travel lines — is removed from every video and image you export. Even the starting point of the video is an offset point, not your actual home. Adjustable from 25 km to 200 km.

■ Nothing leaves your device There is no server. There is no account. Your photos and locations never reach the developer. No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK. Image recognition runs through Apple's Vision framework entirely on your iPhone.

■ Photos you were sent aren't counted Country counts and distances are based only on photos with evidence that your own device took them. Photos you received and screenshots can still appear on the map, but they never inflate the numbers.

■ One thing before you start Only photos taken on your own device, with location data, appear on the map. Camera apps such as Snow or LINE Camera save without a location, and iOS grants location per app, so the built-in Camera does the same if Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Camera is off. If most of your photos have no location, the map will be sparse. Settings > "Photos not on the map" shows which photos were skipped and why. A location cannot be added to photos you have already taken, but photos you take from now on will appear once you allow location for your camera app.
