Atlas: Travel Map

Your camera roll already knows where you have been. Atlas turns it into a map, a travel record, and a passport of stamps you can share.

Atlas builds a travel record out of the photographs already on your iPhone.

Most photos taken on a phone quietly save the date and the coordinates where they were taken. Atlas reads that, works out which cities and countries you were in, and turns years of camera roll into something you can actually look at.

There is nothing to log. No trips to create, no places to check in to, no account to make. If you took a photo there, Atlas knows you were there.

PLACES Every city you have been to, led by your own photographs rather than a list of names. Open one to see every visit, when you went, how long you stayed, and where in the city you took the pictures.

THE MAP Your whole history on one map, with a photograph pinned at each city and the routes of your trips drawn between them.

TRIPS Photos group themselves into visits, and visits into trips, by when and where they were taken. Each trip gets its dates, its cities in order, and its distance.

YOUR RECORD Countries out of the 195 in the world. Continents, cities, time zones, days away, years travelling, and how far you have gone, which for most people turns out to be several times around the planet. Tap any figure to share that one number on its own.

STAMPS Thirty-two marks to earn, drawn like passport stamps. Continents, country and city milestones, distance, the tropics, the Arctic Circle, both hemispheres. They are kept in your own iCloud, so they follow you to a new phone and are not lost if you delete the photos that earned them.

SHARING Your map, one statistic, one stamp, a place or a whole trip, laid out as a card built for a story rather than a screenshot of a scrolling page. Choose which of your photographs go on it. Goes straight to Instagram or TikTok if you have them.

PRIVACY

Atlas collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

Your photographs are read on the device and stay on it. They are never copied or uploaded. The only thing that leaves your iPhone is a set of map coordinates, rounded onto a two kilometre grid and sent to Apple to be turned into a place name, plus about a kilobyte of earned stamps saved to your own iCloud account. We have no server, so there is nowhere for your information to go even if we wanted it.

Photos with no location are ignored. Nothing is written to your library and nothing is deleted from it.

REQUIREMENTS

iPhone running iOS 18 or later. Works best with photos that have Location Services switched on for the camera, which is the default.
