Features & Capabilities

Point the camera at a screen, a poster or a UI and see it through eight color vision types. Drag the split to compare with the original, then save or share it.

ColorLens shows you what your work looks like to someone whose color vision differs from yours. Point the camera at a screen, a poster or a printed design, or load a photo from your library, and watch it redrawn live through eight color vision types.

Turn on Compare and a draggable split appears: the original on the left, the simulation on the right. Drag it across the image to find the exact point where a chart, a status badge or a button stops being readable. The split is baked into the picture you save or share, so the evidence can go straight into a ticket.

EIGHT VISION TYPES

  • Normal: no simulation, the image as the camera sees it
  • Protanopia and Protanomaly: red cones absent or shifted
  • Deuteranopia and Deuteranomaly: green cones absent or shifted
  • Tritanopia and Tritanomaly: blue cones absent or shifted
  • Achromatopsia: no color cones at all, only lightness

HOW IT WORKS The image is converted to linear RGB, then to LMS cone responses. The missing or shifted response is rebuilt from the remaining two using the published Brettel-Vienot-Mollon projection, and the result is converted back to RGB. The milder types are that same transform blended with the untouched image at 60% strength. Real published coefficients, not a guessed filter.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • Work from the live camera, or freeze a frame to study it
  • Load any photo from your library
  • Drag the split anywhere across the image
  • Save to Photos, or share the comparison as it stands
  • Keep the type you used last on your home screen with the widget

WHO IT IS FOR

  • Designers checking that meaning does not rest on color alone
  • Engineers reviewing a screen before it ships
  • Teachers, printers and anyone curious how their work reads to others

PLEASE NOTE ColorLens is a simulation, not a diagnostic tool. It does not test or diagnose color vision deficiency, and it cannot tell you anything about your own vision. Color vision varies from person to person and screens are not calibrated, so treat every result as an approximation. If you have any concern about your vision, see an eye care professional.

Point it at the screen you are working on and see how it holds up.
