Unredacted: World Wars is a four-year curriculum covering 1914 to 1945: 100 lessons from the imperial order that produced the first war to the trials, expulsions and statutes that followed the second.

It is a global history. The Eastern Front is not a subplot, the war in China begins in 1937 rather than 1941, and the colonial half of both wars is taught as part of the war rather than as a footnote to it: the Carrier Corps, the tirailleurs, the Chinese Labour Corps, the Indian Army, Thiaroye, Bengal, the Romusha of Java, Korea's mobilisation.

It does not leave out the crimes. The Herero and Nama genocide. The Armenian genocide and the Assyrian and Greek killings. Every atrocity here is one the record establishes, and each Case File lists what it rests on: the Hofle Telegram, the Jager Report, Ottoman interior ministry telegrams, Reiss's forensic reports, War Cabinet minutes, trial transcripts, and archives buried under ghettos by the people they were written about. Where the numbers are contested, the lesson gives the range and names who holds each position rather than picking one. Where a familiar quotation turns out to be invented, the app says so and quotes the real one instead.
