Harayomi: Declare Then Throw

Harayomi is rock paper scissors where you declare your hand before you throw it.

Pass one phone around the table. Each player secretly enters the hand they intend to throw. All declarations are revealed at once, and then you get 60 seconds to talk, negotiate, and lie to each other. When time runs out, the phone goes around again and everyone enters the hand they actually throw.

Winning with the hand you declared is worth 3 points. Winning with a different hand is worth 2. Lying makes you more likely to win, but it is only worth two thirds as much. If lying does not improve your odds by half, lying loses.

HOW TO PLAY

• 2 to 4 players sharing one phone. Three is the sweet spot
• Declare, reveal, talk for 60 seconds, throw, score
• 3 points for an honest win, 2 for a dishonest one
• Winning alone against 2 or 3 others doubles it
• First to 7 points, or the highest score after 3 rounds
