Film Recipes: Fuji X Looks

Reads HEIF as well as JPEG, so the recipe comes back even when other tools tell you the photo does not have one.

READS HEIF, NOT JUST JPEG

Most tools were written for JPEG only, then quietly find nothing inside a HEIF file and tell you the photo has no recipe. HEIF stores its metadata somewhere completely different. Film Recipes reads both containers properly, and it tells you which one it read on screen every time.

NEVER GUESSES

If a value is not in the file, or does not decode cleanly, the app says "Not recorded" instead of showing you a number that might be wrong. A recipe you cannot trust is worse than no recipe at all.

KNOWS YOUR CAMERA

Pick your body once and every recipe is checked against it. Clarity on an X-Pro2, Nostalgic Neg. on an X-T4, DR400 at ISO 160: the app flags what your camera cannot set before you walk out with it dialled in wrong. Covers X-Processor Pro, X-Processor 4 and X-Processor 5 bodies across the X series and GFX.

HONEST ABOUT ONE THING

The A/B preview is an approximation, and the app says so on the screen. Only the camera can produce the camera's colour. What the preview is genuinely good for is seeing the direction and the size of the difference between two recipes, which is the question you actually have when choosing between them.
