Features & Capabilities

The recipes worth keeping aren't on websites.

They're on index cards in a tin. On the back of an envelope. In a notebook in your mum's handwriting, with the corner stained from the time she spilled the vanilla.

My Recipe Booklet is built for those.

PHOTOGRAPH THE CARD. KEEP THE HANDWRITING.

Point your camera at a handwritten recipe. The app reads it using Apple Intelligence and Vision, right on your device, and types it up into something you can actually cook from.

Then — and this is the bit that matters — it keeps the card. Not just the words off it. The card itself, front and back, at a resolution you can zoom right into. Tap "See the original card" on any recipe and there's her handwriting, exactly as she wrote it.

The typed version is for cooking. The card is for keeping.

WHOSE RECIPE IS IT?

Every recipe can remember whose it was, roughly when it dates from, and the story behind it. "Nan's, 1998. She made this every Christmas Eve and never once wrote down how long to leave it."

That's the part that disappears when a recipe gets retyped into a notes app. Search for "Nan" and every one of her recipes comes back.

FOR ACTUALLY COOKING

  • Cook Mode keeps the screen awake and lets you tick off ingredients and steps with a knuckle, hands covered in flour.
  • Any step that mentions a time gets a timer. Tap it, put the phone down, get told when it's ready.
  • Cooking for six instead of four? Tap plus twice and every quantity rewrites itself. Oven temperatures stay put.
  • A shopping list that adds up properly — 500g flour from one recipe and 500g from another becomes 1kg, with a nudge that it's about a one-kilo bag.

SHARING AND KEEPING

  • Send a recipe to anyone by message. They don't need the app.
  • Export or print any recipe as a PDF, with the original card on the last page.
  • Your recipes sync between your own iPhone and iPad through iCloud. No account. No sign-in. No password to forget.
  • A Home Screen widget with your shopping list and today's recipe.

PRIVATE, BY DESIGN

There is no account and no server. Your recipes and your photographs of your family's handwriting live on your device and in your own iCloud. Nothing is uploaded to us, because there is no us to upload it to. The AI that reads your cards runs on your iPhone, not in a data centre.

MADE TO LOOK LIKE WHAT IT IS

Warm paper, pencil-grey handwriting, nothing shouting at you. Dark mode, your choice of accent colour, and adjustable note text if you need it bigger.

Some recipes are just instructions. Some are the only thing left in someone's handwriting. This app is for the second kind.
