Motmot: Daily Word Puzzles

Six independent daily puzzles: three games, each in English and in French. Type ECOLE and the game understands ÉCOLE — accents never slow you down.

Every game here runs an independent daily puzzle in each language: its own answer list, its own streak, its own statistics. Three games today, so six puzzles a day.

WORDPECKER — the word of the day Six tries to find a five-letter word. After each guess the tiles colour in: teal for the right letter in the right place, amber for the right letter in the wrong place, dark for a letter that isn't there.

STAIRLING — the ladder of the day Start at one word, reach another, changing a single letter at a time. Four rungs to find and eight moves to find them in, and every rung has to be a real word. You can take a rung back — but the move is spent.

SPELLBILL — the letters of the day Seven letters, one of them required in every word. Make as many words of four letters or more as you can, climb six ranks, and find the word that uses all seven. The top rank wins the day — and you can keep looking after.

And the same three in French: GUILLEMOT, ÉCHELETTE and MOTTEUX. One streak per puzzle, every day.

ACCENTS DON'T SLOW YOU DOWN Type ECOLE and the game understands ÉCOLE — then hands back the accented spelling when the board is done. Roughly one French answer in five carries one.
