Spoilarm: Wake Up or Find Out

Hit snooze and it tells you a little about what happens next. Hit it again and it tells you more. Your favourite show is the hostage, and you handed it over.

Spoilarm is an alarm clock that holds your favourite show hostage.

Set an alarm, pick a series, and tell it where you stopped watching. Then hit snooze and find out what that costs.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Set an alarm and choose a show you are in the middle of.
2. Tell Spoilarm the season and episode you last watched. It only ever looks past that point.
3. The alarm rings. Getting up now costs nothing.
4. Snooze, and it says something about what is coming. Snooze again, and it says more.

IT ONLY KNOWS WHAT YOU TOLD IT

Spoilarm never draws from anything you have already seen. You say you finished season 3 and you are two episodes into season 4; everything before that is off the table. When in doubt it treats you as further behind than you said, because the only unforgivable mistake here is spoiling something you had not reached.

YOU DECIDE WHAT IS AT RISK

• Never spoil this one — shield a show and it is never touched, whatever else you set. • Someone's next to me — the alarm still wakes you, silently, with no line spoken out loud. A spoiler said out loud reaches everyone in the room, not just the person it was aimed at. • Nothing at stake — leave the show empty and it is an ordinary alarm.

NO NAMES, NO PLOT, NO QUOTES

Spoilarm never names a character, an episode or a place, and it never quotes anyone's writing. What it says is deliberately just enough to be unbearable: that something happens, roughly how big it is, and roughly when. The dread does the work. Nothing is copied from anywhere.
