Echocardiography calculator
Enter a study, get every scaled index against its published reference interval. Breed normals, multiple allometic models. Free, offline, and nothing leaves your device.
The VetCardioHub echocardiography calculator, built for iPhone and iPad.
Enter the measurements from a study and VCH EchoCalc derives the standard indices, compares them against published reference intervals, assesses breed specific ranges and assembles a report you can share, copy or export as a letterheaded PDF. Every model and score shows its citation on screen.
Written for qualified veterinary professionals. It classifies measurements against published intervals. It does not diagnose.
WHAT IT CALCULATES
• Allometrically scaled dimensions: LVIDdn, LVIDsn, LAn, LADn, RADn, RVD1n, TAPSEn and more, against seven models: standard canine, non-sighthound, sighthound, toy breed, puppy, adult cat and kitten.
• Left atrial assessment: LA:Ao, LAD:Ao short and long axis, LADN.
• Volumetric indices: Simpson's volumes, EF, stroke volume, volumes indexed to weight and body surface area, against the Wess sighthound and non-sighthound tables.
• Spectral Doppler: E:A, E:IVRT, E:e', LVEIO, pressure gradients, ePLAR.
• Shunt quantification: Qp, Qs, Qp:Qs and the VTI ratio.
• Right heart: TAPSE, RVWT, RVEDA/RVESA, RV FAC, RVD, RAD, MPA and RPA ratios, RPA distensibility, eccentricity index, against two published right-heart models.
• Mitral regurgitation: regurgitant volume and fraction by the volumetric method.
CLINICAL SCORING
• Diastolic function: an eight-parameter classifier returning Normal or Grade I to III, showing every contributing parameter and a confidence label.
• Pulmonary hypertension: ACVIM (2020) probability with the grouped evidence and anatomic site count, plus the Chang (2026) score for patients with no measurable TR jet.
• MINE: the Vezzosi 2021 and 2025 prognostic scores for MMVD, with the published stage and median survival time.
• EPIC Stage B2 criteria for dogs; HCM phenotype, atrial thromboembolism risk and outflow obstruction for cats.
Canine models are never applied to cats, or the reverse. Where no interval is published, the app says so rather than substituting one.
BREED REFERENCE TABLES
Twenty-eight breed and cohort entries, several with multiple source studies, each shown alongside your patient's values with its citation. Breeds known to sit outside general intervals are flagged, and selecting one can switch the model to match.
REPORTS
• A full text report, built as you work.
• A separate pulmonary hypertension audit with the evidence breakdown.
• PDF export with your practice letterhead, logo and signature, set once and applied to every report.
• Share as text into an email, a note or your practice management system.
Every report carries the date of the reference set that produced it.
BUILT-IN GLOSSARY
Nearly 200 terms. What each measurement is, the optimal view, the technique or formula, and the evidence from an information button beside the field or the result.
PASTE FROM YOUR MACHINE
Paste a machine-generated report and the app fills what it recognises, showing every proposed value for checking before it is applied. Fields you have already entered are never overwritten.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No sign-in. No subscription. No advertising, no analytics, no tracking.
Studies, patient details and saved reports never leave your device. No cloud sync, no server, nothing for us to see. The app works fully offline; its only network requests are read-only fetches of the reference data and glossary.
IMPORTANT
VCH EchoCalc is a clinical decision-support tool for qualified veterinary professionals and is intended for use on animals only. It does not diagnose, stage or treat, and it does not replace your own clinical judgement. Every figure it displays is calculated from values you enter, using models you select, and must be interpreted in the full clinical context of the individual patient. Prognostic figures are population statistics, not predictions for an individual animal.
