Start a session when you set out. Log with a tap, from your lock screen, or without touching the phone at all. Everything is written to your phone first, so a morning in a marsh is recorded as well as one in town.

Your birds are grouped by day and place, the way a paper notebook would have them — counts, field notes, the time each species appeared, all still editable weeks later. Underneath it, your life list and your year build themselves.

And it stays yours. Import your eBird records, upload a checklist straight back to eBird, or export the lot.

BUILT FOR THE MOMENT YOU DON'T HAVE

Turn on always-listening for a walk and just talk. Call birds as you see them and Bunting keeps up, hands free, binoculars still at your eyes.

Say "two Red-winged Blackbirds" and that is the entry: species, count, time, place. Bunting has been taught bird names rather than plain English, and leans toward the species actually recorded around you. Each one appears for a few seconds with a bin beside it — a wrong name costs one tap, a right one costs nothing. All on your phone, no signal needed.

YOUR ROUTE, IF YOU WANT IT

Record the trail as you walk it and every bird lands where you found it, at the time you found it. Useful for a transect, a patch you work every week, or just remembering which bend in the path held the good bird. Sharing the route is a separate decision from sharing the sightings.

WORKS OFFLINE

No signal in the wood, on the ridge, out on the flats. Bunting logs everything offline and syncs when you are back, and tells you plainly when it is still holding birds the server has not seen. Nothing waits on a bar of reception.

FIND BIRDS NEAR YOU

Search a species and see where it has turned up lately, on a map you pan and zoom. Add your own free eBird key and recent eBird checklists appear on the map too. Bunting also connects to BirdWeather's listening stations, so you can see what they've heard near you.

Nothing is shared unless you share it. Send an outing when it's ready and it joins what birders near you have posted — the day, the place, the species list.
