Features & Capabilities

A map of the free fruit around you, kept current by the people picking it. Say what's ripe, what's not yet, and what's already picked clean.

Washington is full of free fruit, and most of it goes unpicked.

Ripe is a map of the fruit trees, berry brambles and nut trees you can forage around WA - in parks, on planting strips, along trails and over fences into the alley. Around 12,000 spots, all free to pick.

WHAT'S ON THE MAP

Blackberry, apple, plum, fig, pear, cherry, and thirty more: mulberry, quince, serviceberry, hazelnut, chestnut, elderberry, Oregon grape, salmonberry, thimbleberry and the rest. Filter to one kind, or tap "Ripe now" to see only what should be ready this week.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Find what's near you. The map opens where you are, and every pin shows what it is before you tap it. • See if it's worth the walk. Each spot shows where it is in its season, from "not yet" through "ripe now" to "past it". • Say how it looks. One tap tells everyone else whether a tree is ready. • Add a spot. Drop a pin, name the fruit, take a photo. It takes about twenty seconds standing under the tree. • Leave a note. Whether it's easy to reach, whether the good branches are over a fence, whether somebody already got there. • Keep working with no signal. Spots you've already looked at stay on your phone, so a park with one bar still shows you what's around.

NO ACCOUNT

There's no sign-up, no password and no email. You can add spots, photos and notes without making an account, and the app never asks who you are. No ads and no tracking.

It’s very fun to look around for the fruits and berries on the map while out on a walk!
