Hiragana, katakana, one a day
A new character on your lockscreen every morning. Hiragana, then katakana, then the sound rules that turn them into words. 106 days, two minutes each.
Hibi teaches you to read Japanese, one character a day, on the same screen you check hundreds of times per day.
Every morning a new character lands on your lockscreen. You glance at it, you read it, you move on. That is the whole habit. Two minutes today, two minutes tomorrow, and that compounds into memorizing Kana on a busy schedule.
THE RIGHT ORDER
Hiragana, then katakana, then the sound rules that turn them into real words: dakuten, the small tsu, long vowels. 106 days, in gojūon order: the same order as every kana chart and Japanese keyboard you will ever use. Most apps open with kanji and let you drown in it. Hibi holds the line until you can actually read.
A WIDGET, NOT A NOTIFICATION
The lockscreen widget is the appointment. It does not buzz, it does not beg, it does not guilt you at 9pm. It is simply there, showing today's character, whenever you pick up your phone. There is a home screen widget too.
WRITE IT YOURSELF
Every character draws itself, stroke by stroke, in the order it is taught in Japan. Then you trace it with your finger and see exactly where you drifted.
SPACED REPETITION THAT RESPECTS YOUR TIME
Reviews are scheduled by FSRS, the open algorithm serious learners use. Characters you know come back rarely. Characters you keep missing come back soon. You never grind through material you have already learned.
HEAR IT SPOKEN
Every character and every example word is read aloud in Japanese, on device.
SEE THE YEAR FILL IN
A contribution chart of every day you studied, and a streak that earns a hanko stamp at seven days, thirty, and a hundred.
BUILT LIKE A BOOK
No confetti, no cartoon owl, no streak that screams at you. Noto Serif JP on bone white paper, one character per page. A Japanese book that happens to run on your phone.
YOUR PROGRESS STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
No account server. Every character you have seen and every review lives in a database on your device, not on ours.
