Spending Tracker - Private

No account, no sign-up, no server. Your spending is recorded on your iPhone and stays there. The backups are yours, optionally encrypted with a passphrase.

"Spending Tracker - Private" records what you spend. That is all it does, and it does it without an account, without a server, and without sending your finances anywhere.

Every entry lives in a database on your iPhone. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, and no company holding a copy of what you spend.

WHAT IT DOES

• Log an expense in seconds: amount, where, category, optional note • See every entry by month or category, searchable and fast even after years of use • Monthly view: total, entry count, average, and a breakdown of where the money actually went • Trend view: how spending moves month to month, across all categories or one • Categories you control — create, rename, recolour • Recurring costs: rent, subscriptions, the daily coffee. Set it once and entries appear on schedule • Face ID or Touch ID lock, if you want one

RECURRING COSTS THAT USE YOUR DATES

• Set a donation on the 15th and it repeats on the 15th. Set an annual renewal in August and it repeats in August. Daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly and yearly are all supported, and a rule started on the 31st falls back to the last day of shorter months without drifting. • Entries created by a rule are marked as such, so you can always see where a charge came from, and remove a rule together with everything it generated, or keep the history.

BACKUPS YOU ACTUALLY CONTROL

• Because nothing is uploaded, backups are your responsibility. So, they are made straightforward. • Export a file and put it wherever you like: iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Files, or a message to yourself. Encrypt it with a passphrase first and it is unreadable by whoever (storage provider) stores it. Importing shows you exactly what a file contains and asks whether to replace or merge before anything changes. • Your database also sits inside the normal iPhone backup, so restoring a device brings your spending with it.

ON PRIVACY, PRECISELY

• No account. No sign-up. Nothing that reads your spending and sends it somewhere. • There is no server to breach and no database of users to sell.

NO SUBSCRIPTION

• Budgeting apps that connect to your bank charge around a hundred dollars a year, because they pay for that connection. This one never touches your bank, so it does not need to charge you for the privilege.
