ShotPulled is a dialing companion for espresso. You tell it how the shot tasted; it tells you the one thing to change next, and why.

TASTE FIRST, NOT NUMBERS FIRST

A shot that runs 18g in, 41g out in 22 seconds is not automatically wrong — it depends on the coffee, the roast, and how old the bag is. ShotPulled starts from what you tasted. Sour, bitter, harsh, thin, hollow, ashy, or the puck choked and sprayed. From there the engine ranks what is most likely causing it, tells you how confident it is, and recommends a single change.

One variable per shot. Grind, or yield, or temperature, or prep — never two at once, because two changes and neither of them is measurable.

IT KNOWS YOUR GRINDER

Collars differ. Some count clicks, some have numbered marks, some use compound rings like 1.2.2, some just say "fine" and "coarse". ShotPulled ships a catalog of 67 grinders, 124 machines and 17 scales, every entry checked against the manufacturer's own manual, so "go two clicks finer" means two clicks on the grinder in front of you.

It will not quote you micron numbers. Burr sets are not comparable that way, and a number invents a precision that does not exist.

A CLEAN MOVES THE DIAL, AND THE APP KNOWS IT

Take a hand grinder apart to clean the burrs and the collar goes back on wherever it lands. Every recipe you locked before that describes a burr gap the same number no longer means.

ShotPulled logs the clean and reads your locked recipes through it. Pull one shot at the old setting and it works the offset out from the flow; or count the clicks yourself as you put the grinder back together. Either way it tells you what your old 1.2.2 is today, and it never rewrites what you actually logged.

If nobody measured, it says so and shows no corrected number at all. Unmeasured is a state, not a zero, and an honest blank beats a confident wrong figure.

It also tells you when the next clean is due, counted three ways: days, shots, and the grams that have gone through the burrs.

FRESHNESS THAT MEANS SOMETHING

Every bag gets a peak window with a track showing where today sits on it, the day the window opens and the day it closes. Freeze a bag and the clock stops — the days in the freezer are excluded from its age, so a bag frozen on day 6 is still on day 6 when you thaw it.

YOUR SCALE, IF IT SPEAKS BLUETOOTH

Weigh the dose in, weigh the shot out, and the numbers fill themselves. Scales with their own clock send the time along with the yield; the rest get a timer the app runs. Either way it never starts itself, and manual entry is always there.
