Playful speech-sound practice
See the picture, hear the word, say it back. 10 speech sounds split by position. Offline, no ads, no tracking, one-time unlock. Built by experienced SLPs.
Listen, and repeat. That is the whole app.
A picture appears. Your child hears the word spoken clearly by another child. They say it back, then swipe on to the next card. No menus to fight, no timers, no score to lose: just the drill, one word at a time.
Articulation Drills was built by two speech-language pathologists with 75 years of practice between them, most of it in public school therapy rooms.
HOW IT WORKS
• Tap the picture to hear the word again, as many times as you like
• Swipe left for the next card, right to go back
• A slim bar along the top shows how far through the set you are
• Finish a set and earn a sticker for the sticker board
WHAT IS INSIDE
479 words across 21 sets, covering 10 speech sounds: ch, f, g, k, l, r, s, sh, th, and v.
Every sound is split by where it falls in the word (beginning, middle, or end) because a child who says "sun" cleanly can still lose the same sound in "bus". Practice the position that actually needs the work, not the whole sound at once.
BUILT FOR THE GROWN-UP TOO
• Choose exactly which sets appear, so a session stays on target
• Hide the printed word for children who are not reading yet
• Calm mode trims the celebrations to a single chime, with no confetti
• Mute all audio in one tap
• A press-and-hold gate keeps settings and purchases out of small hands
WORKS ANYWHERE, TELLS NOBODY
Every picture and recording lives inside the app, so it works on a plane, in a waiting room, or in a school with no usable Wi-Fi.
There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. The app collects no personal information at all. Nothing is uploaded, because nothing is gathered.
THE VOICE
Every word is spoken by a professional child actress, not a synthesizer. Children match a peer's voice more readily than an adult's, and a model worth copying has to sound like something they could actually say.
FREE TO TRY, ONE PRICE TO OPEN
Download and practise the complete /s/ sound, plus /r/ at the beginning of words and /l/ at the end, for free. That is four full sets, not a trial that expires.
Everything else opens with a single one-time purchase. No subscription, no per-sound packs, nothing to buy twice, and it restores free on your other devices.
WHO MADE IT
Leah J. Musgrave, MS, CCC-SLP has more than 40 years as a speech-language pathologist across public schools, private practice, home health care, and early intervention. Dean Trout retired in 2008 after 35 years in schools, clinics, and Head Start centres in West Virginia and Kentucky.
Articulation Drills is a practice tool for home and therapy-room drill. It does not diagnose, and it does not replace working with a speech-language pathologist.
