Flex Music is an independent music player and playlist manager for personal Plex Media Server libraries. Sign in with Plex, pick your server, and your music is there — at home, in the car, on your wrist, and offline. No Plex Pass required.

BUILT AND TESTED FOR BIG PLAYLISTS

Forget the endless scrolling. A song pops into your head, you type a few letters, and there it is — search works inside a playlist, not just across your library. Then reorder by drag, or swipe a track straight to the top, the middle, a random spot, or the bottom, and map each of the four swipe slots to whichever action you use most. Add whole albums. Add what's playing. Clone a playlist and tidy up the copy. All of it tested on playlists of more than 17,000 tracks.

A PLAYER WORTH LOOKING AT

• Lyrics that scroll with the song, full screen, in four sizes. If they drift, tap the line you're actually hearing and they snap back into sync. The screen stays on while they're up. Pulled from your server, with an automatic LRCLIB fallback when it has none
• Six visualizer styles that move to the track's own decoded audio once it has been analysed, and ambient motion until then
• An optional waveform progress bar drawn from the song's own loudness
• Colors pulled from the album art, and seven themes including true black
• Star ratings saved straight back to Plex

OFFLINE, PROPERLY

Download a playlist and it keeps playing on your iPhone when the server is unreachable. Set a storage cap and Flex clears out whatever you play least, or turn on Keep favourites offline and it downloads your most-played tracks for you — over Wi-Fi only, if you prefer.

IN THE CAR

CarPlay is included, free. Browse your playlists, albums and recent listening on the head unit, with artwork, and rate the playing track without touching your phone.

ON YOUR WRIST

The Apple Watch app is part of Flex Music Pro. Start a playlist, see what's playing with its artwork, rate a track, browse what's coming up next, and use the Digital Crown as the volume. The iPhone does the playing; the watch is the remote.

HANDS FREE

Ask Siri to play a playlist by name and Flex Music starts it.

MADE FOR YOUR SCREEN

iPhone and iPad, with a side-by-side queue and lyrics on larger displays. Background playback with the iOS lock screen and Control Centre.

YOURS, AND ONLY YOURS

Rearrange or hide almost anything — the six home rails, the navigation bar, track numbers, the swipe actions, the lyric size. No ads. Your credentials are stored locally and are never sent to our servers, and Flex Music has no account and no advertising profile of its own.

Free, always: browsing, playback, search, ratings, lyrics, every theme and visualizer, editing playlists of up to 100 tracks, and downloading up to 100 tracks at a time.

Flex Music Pro unlocks editing playlists over 100 tracks, downloading more than 100 tracks in one go — including choosing an exact number — keeping more than 100 favourites offline, and the Apple Watch app. Buy it once, or take a monthly or yearly pass; all three give the same access. Purchases are processed by the App Store and can be restored from Settings.
