Pick-a-Pic: early, easy AAC

An easy-to-use AAC app for children with difficulty communicating. Quickly turn your images into books of buttons that speak when tapped.

Pick-a-Pic was created as a springboard for teaching functional communication to children with autism. The basics of functional communication, such as making requests, are where Pick-a-Pic’s simplicity shines.

Each Pick-a-Pic file is organized into Button Books and a Picture Library. Pictures are imported into the Picture Library and then added to pages of Button Books, where they become speech-generating buttons.

Pictures can be imported from a variety of sources: the camera, photo library, files, and anywhere that allows copy-and-paste, such as web browsers. Pictures can also be created from emoji or text, and Pick-a-Pic also includes a small (but growing) gallery of free images.

Caregivers can customize the voice of each Button Book and have the option to lock Button Books with either Face ID or a 4-digit passcode. When combined with iPad’s Guided Access feature, this allows caregivers to turn their iPad into a dedicated AAC device.

Pick-a-Pic files can be shared via iCloud, Dropbox, or Google Drive. This allows your learner to use the same Button Books in any setting where they have an iPad with Pick-a-Pic installed.

Pick-a-Pic has no tracking and no analytics to ensure the privacy of your learner.
