Ages 4-7 · No Reading Required
A guided journey from first piece to full chess. Every step spoken aloud by Tock, your friendly chess clock. No reading required. Solve puzzles and collect characters!
Tock's Chess takes kids from their first look at a chessboard all the way to real games on a real board. A friendly chess clock named Tock speaks every instruction, hint, and celebration out loud, and your child finds their way around by picture rather than by word. No reading required. It's simple enough for a four-year-old, and rich enough to keep a seven-year-old entertained.
ONE GUIDED JOURNEY
This is not a menu of mini-games. It is a single path, built on the piece-by-piece order used by scholastic chess programs around the world. Your child learns each piece through playful puzzles, proves it in a short skills check, then moves on to treasure hunts, two-piece games, check and checkmate, and finally full chess. A child who starts out not knowing how a Rook moves ends up playing complete games.
FRIENDLY OPPONENTS, REAL GAMES
When your child is ready to play, they face named characters with personalities. One grabs any piece it sees. One is too busy daydreaming about cupcakes to notice much at all. Losing to a silly character feels like part of the story, so kids shrug, laugh, and try again.
A MAP YOU CAN BOTH READ
Open the app and you land on one winding path. It starts with the six pieces, a stop each, then opens into games, puzzles, and two opponents to beat. Faded stops are still ahead, the one they are on has a soft glow, and finished ones wear a ring. Every stop is a picture, so a four-year-old can see how far they have come without reading a word. So can you, from across the room.
BUILT CALM, ON PURPOSE
No ads. No third-party trackers. Nothing tied to you or your child. Progress stays on your device, backed up privately to your own family's iCloud, where we cannot see it. Every purchase sits behind a parental gate. The app itself is quiet by design: warm colors, one clear thing to do at a time, no flashing rewards.
A COLLECTION WORTH EARNING
Every level earns a trophy, and most of them are characters your child can pick up and play with on the board. Nothing is randomized and nothing is sold. The collection grows through play alone.
