Read IVs straight from a screenshot and find out whether a catch is worth keeping. The scan and every calculation happen on the device.

■ Just pick a screenshot Choose an appraisal screen and the attack, defense, HP and CP are read into your box. Pick as many as you like at once. Live capture uses screen recording: one tap starts it and takes you to the game, then step through appraisal screens and come back to find the results already waiting.

The reader does not rely on the colour of the IV bars, so team colours, backgrounds and avatars do not throw it off. The species name is read from the lines below the bars, so a renamed catch still comes in as the right Pokemon.

■ Ranks, not guesses Every entry shows where it places in Great League and Ultra League, ordered by stat product (attack x defense x HP). In a CP capped league, a lower attack leaves more room for bulk, so a 100% is often not the best one.

■ What a power up will cost Stardust, candy and XL candy to reach a target CP, plus the level you land on. Pick an evolution and the evolution candy is added in. If a catch is already past a league cap, you are told before you spend anything.

■ Raid counters, both ways Pick a boss to see its weaknesses with multipliers, and which of YOUR OWN catches counter it, movesets included. Or open any entry in the dex to see where it ranks as an attacker of each type, and which bosses it is strong against.

■ A window that stays over the game Open the floating window from the dex or the raid screen and the raid catch CP stays on screen after you switch back. Compare numbers while you are standing in front of the boss. The weather boost symbol comes along, so you know which of the two numbers applies.

■ Build search strings The in game search box has no parentheses and only three operators. To ask for "low attack, high defense and HP" you have to apply the distributive law yourself and write out every combination. Tap the conditions instead and the whole string is built for you, ready to paste.

Pick Pokemon and moves from a list laid out like the dex, with search, so a misspelling never quietly returns nothing. Include a whole evolution family in one tap. Choose which move slot to match. Tags, special moves and weather boost are covered too. Save the combinations you keep coming back to.

■ Dex Base stats, raid catch CP, type matchups both ways, evolution requirements (candy, items and conditions such as walking 10 km with a buddy), Mega Evolution and the energy it needs, shiny availability, shadow numbers, and a top ten of ideal IV spreads for each league. Sort the list by CP, attack, defense or HP, and put two side by side to compare.

■ Nicknames Build a nickname from the parts you want (IVs, level, percent, PvP rank) in either circled or plain digits. The game's length limit is handled for you, so what you copy always fits.
