Pro calculators (rafter lengths, roof area and squares, and the shingle and underlayment takeoff) require a subscription, weekly or yearly, each starting with a free trial.

BUILT ON STANDARD FRAMING GEOMETRY Slope factor is the framing-square value, sqrt(rise^2 + 12^2) / 12, so a 6:12 reads 1.118 and a 12-foot run gives a 13.42-foot common rafter - the same numbers as your rafter tables. Hip and valley lengths use the 16.97-inch diagonal, which puts an 18-inch hip on every foot of common run at 6:12.

Always verify critical dimensions on site before cutting material, ordering, or quoting. Working at height is dangerous - no measurement is worth an unsafe position on a roof.
