Roof Pitch Finder helps roofers, contractors, carpenters, inspectors, and DIY users measure roof pitch, estimate rafter length, and organize job measurements directly from an iPhone.
The app combines live sensor readings, camera-assisted alignment, calculation tools, saved job logs, and professional reporting in one practical workspace.
LIVE ROOF PITCH MEASUREMENT
Place your device against a roof, rafter, beam, or other sloped surface to view the current measurement in real time.
The app displays:
• Pitch ratio, such as 4/12 or 6/12
• Angle in degrees
• Slope percentage
• Roof area factor
• A responsive visual gauge
• A built-in bubble level
CAMERA SIGHT MODE
Use the camera overlay to align the on-screen guide with a visible roofline, gable, or rafter.
This mode is useful when you need to estimate a slope from the ground or when direct access to the surface is limited.
Camera-based readings are estimates and should be verified with appropriate professional tools when accuracy is critical.
RAFTER LENGTH AND RISE ESTIMATOR
Select a roof pitch and enter the horizontal run to calculate:
• Estimated rafter length
• Total vertical rise
• Corresponding angle
• Roof area factor
Results update automatically whenever the entered values change.
PITCH REFERENCE TABLE
View a reference chart covering common roof pitches from 1/12 to 24/12.
Each row includes the equivalent angle, slope percentage, and area factor. The app can also highlight the pitch closest to the current live reading.
SAVE MEASUREMENTS TO JOBS
Create job records and save multiple measurements for each project.
Saved entries may include:
• Pitch and angle
• Slope percentage
• Area factor
• Date and time
• GPS coordinates
• Resolved address
• Project details
PHOTO STAMPING
Take photos from Camera Sight Mode and add a clean information banner containing the current measurement, date, time, and location.
Stamped photos can be saved directly to the iOS Photos app for documentation and sharing.
IMPERIAL AND METRIC UNITS
Switch between imperial and metric units from the app settings.
Your selection is applied across calculations, saved measurements, and reports.
PDF REPORTS
Create professional PDF summaries containing job information, measurement logs, average pitch, dates, and location details.
Reports can be saved, printed, emailed, or shared through the native iOS Share Sheet.
CALIBRATION
Use the guided calibration process to establish a reliable baseline against a known flat surface.
Calibration may help reduce differences caused by device positioning, protective cases, or sensor behavior.
