Granular chance sequencer
Import a sample, play its waveform as granular terrain, shape deterministic Markov sequences, and use the included AUv3—all locally on Mac and iPad.
Ohms Terrain is a native iPad granular sampler and deterministic Markov sequencer. Import a sample and its real waveform becomes an immersive, playable terrain processed entirely on-device.
PLAY THE TERRAIN
• Fixed slice-orbs are the actual Markov nodes; weighted arcs connect those exact nodes.
• Create, drag, pinch, throw, and lock up to eight independent, color-coded grain-cloud halos.
• Follow each real sequencer hop with the transition firefly.
• Start instantly with three original bundled loops: Demo Loop, Drone, and Pulse.
• Choose System, Light, or Dark appearance; the Field, nodes, routes, clouds, and controls adapt together.
SHAPE AND PERFORM
• Edit up to 16 slice markers, then play with Slicer, Looper, Tape, and Keys touch modes.
• Apply reverse, stutter, speed, and scratch warp slots.
• Lock every pitch path to a root and one of six scales: Chromatic, Major, Minor, Pentatonic, Dorian, Mixolydian.
• Play from a hardware keyboard: Space runs the Terrain, R reweaves, N adds a cloud, Option–Arrow nudges the selected cloud, and 1–8 select clouds.
• Use pitch-preserving WSOLA from 0.5×–2× or Drone Horizon from 4×–32×, with Drone output capped at three minutes.
• Add filter, delay, and reverb.
MAKE CHANCE REPEATABLE
• Shape weights with the Markov map and step sequencer.
• Use a fixed deterministic seed; Reweave randomizes the map without pretending to change that seed.
• Snapshots, motion loops, and take labels persist inside saved .ohmsterrain projects; captured takes also export as durable MIDI or WAV files.
• Follow internal, MIDI, or AUv3 host tempo.
CAPTURE WITHOUT LOSING THE SAMPLE
Optional standalone microphone recording and sound-on-sound overdub begin only after a confirmation. Finished audio stays staged beside the current sample until you choose to use, layer, or discard it. Everything remains on-device.
INCLUDED AUv3 INSTRUMENT
The embedded AUv3 supports up to four clouds in compatible iPad hosts, follows the host or system appearance, starts from eight factory presets, reaches the full Field Radius range including Drone Horizon, and publishes its decisions as MIDI output so other instruments can follow the walk. Its custom view includes an in-app manual, four explained travel modes, and full Filter, Delay, and Reverb editors. It generates audio, accepts no host audio input, and has no microphone path.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Ohms Terrain has no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or cloud audio processing.
