OhmsGrid is an 8×8 clip groovebox for Mac and iPad, built around private, on-device music generation. Each column is an instrument — Drums, Bass, Lead, Melody, Pad, FX, Vocal, or Perc — and each row is a scene. Trigger one clip, launch a complete scene, or build an arrangement while everything stays on your device.

LOCAL BY DESIGN ACE-Step 1.5 inference runs on Apple Silicon through MLX. Optional open weights download from Hugging Face only after you approve them and are verified before use. Generated clips, projects, and prompts stay on your device. There is no account, analytics SDK, telemetry, advertising, or cloud rendering service.

READY BEFORE A DOWNLOAD A bundled sample project makes the grid playable on first launch. OhmsGrid distinguishes runtime health from verified model readiness, gives every download a visible progress and cancel state, and offers removable app-managed storage.

SHARED MAC + IPAD WORKFLOW • Launch 64 pads or complete scenes with quantized timing. • Mix each column with volume, pan, mute, solo, and sidechain ducking. • Capture quantized scene performances into an editable arrangement. • Add deterministic Scene Follow actions for evolving, repeatable sets. • Use one-tap or advanced on-device generation. • Connect supported CoreMIDI controllers and sync loaded clips to the bundled AUv3 instrument. • Import and export project-layout JSON through the native document picker.

MAC WORKFLOW Add sample folders for local BPM, key, and category analysis. Reverse, time-stretch, pitch-shift, and shape clips in the Inspector. Separate stems locally, then export a WAV mix or per-column stems to a location you choose.

IPAD WORKFLOW A focused touch interface provides Grid, Arrange, Mix, model management, Files-based project import/export, audio-route status, and AUv3 sync. Desktop-only sample-folder scanning, clip transforms, and audio mixdown are intentionally not shown on iPad.

AUTOFILL WITH CONTROL Autofill captures every empty pad once, reports progress, and can be cancelled. Flush stops queued work before clearing the project.

PRIVACY & STORAGE See models, app data, indexes, export locations, backup policy, device fit, and purge actions in Settings. Model deletion is restricted to app-managed storage; external folders are never removed.

REQUIREMENTS • macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, or iPadOS 17 or later on an Apple Silicon iPad. • Free storage for optional ACE-Step weights (about 9.4 GB for the complete Mac bundle or 5.9 GiB for the iPad Turbo bundle). The bundled sample project remains playable without them.
