Clara does. Because she reads what your local forecasters actually wrote.

THE PART OTHER WEATHER APPS SKIP Several times a day, the meteorologists at your regional National Weather Service office publish a Forecast Discussion — their own reasoning, in their own words. Which model they trust today and which one they think is wrong. How confident they are. The local terrain quirks that no algorithm accounts for. It's the closest thing there is to a forecaster's notebook, and most weather apps never touch it, because it's written by meteorologists for meteorologists.

Clara reads it every time you open the app. She folds in severe-storm outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center, any active alerts, and — if you switch it on — relevant weather news from your area. Then she translates the whole thing into plain language.

So instead of "60%," you hear why it's 60%, when it changes, and whether you'll want that jacket.

WEATHER SCHOOL Clara is a weather nerd and it shows. Tap the mortarboard and she'll explain what a "40% chance of rain" actually means (it isn't what you think), why "scattered showers" is an honest answer rather than a hedge, why summer storms are the hardest forecast she makes, and when your radar screen is lying to you. Written for grown-ups, with an interactive demo that shows how two completely different afternoons produce the same number on your phone.

THE NUMBERS, TOO Current conditions with dew point comfort, feels-like, wind, humidity and UV. An hourly strip. A TV-style 7-day outlook.

SEVERE WEATHER, FRONT AND CENTER Active National Weather Service alerts arrive as unmissable broadcast-style banners, with optional notifications the moment a new one is issued — plus a daily briefing notification at the time you choose.

Local forecaster discussions and alerts come from the US National Weather Service, so that layer is US-only. Everywhere else, Clara briefs you from worldwide forecast data in the same voice.

Clara's briefing and answers are powered by Claude and require your own Anthropic API key (free to create; usage is billed by Anthropic to your account, typically pennies a day). Without a key, the full forecast experience still works — you just won't hear Clara's voice.
