Since 2026, Portuguese law (Lei Orgânica n.º 1/2026) requires proof of Portuguese language knowledge for a nationality application. You prove the level with a recognised exam: the CIPLE (A2) — Certificado Inicial de Português Língua Estrangeira — run by CAPLE, at the Universidade de Lisboa.

HOW THE CIPLE IS PASSED

The CIPLE has three components, weighted differently: Reading Comprehension + Written Production and Interaction (45%), Listening Comprehension (30%) and Oral Production and Interaction (25%). The final mark gives a grade — Muito Bom, Bom, Suficiente or Insuficiente — and nationality requires a pass (Suficiente, ≥55%). The app computes your estimate on exactly that weighting, so you know precisely where to focus.

EVERY ANSWER, EXPLAINED

Each question comes with an explanation that points to the key sentence in the document (audio or text) and shows why the other options are wrong — the elimination method that counts on exam day.

THE CITIZENSHIP TEST — COMING

The law also requires a culture, history and citizenship test. Its official format has not been published yet; as soon as the implementing regulation is issued, this module is switched on as a free update.

AN INTERFACE IN 4 LANGUAGES

The interface is available in Portuguese, French, Arabic (full right-to-left display) and English. The training content stays in European Portuguese — the language of the exam.
