Features & Capabilities

You shouldn't need a subscription to know what's in your food. No subscription • No ads • No account. 10 scans free every month. Pay once, yours forever.

Scan a barcode. Get a verdict that explains itself.

Most gluten scanners hand you a green checkmark and expect you to trust it. GlutenCheck names the ingredient, gives the reasoning, and cites the rule behind it — so you can decide for yourself.

If the barcode isn't in the database, the camera becomes a label reader. No dead end, no "product not found" shrug. That's the moment other scanners give up.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT A LABEL CAN'T TELL YOU

In the United States, "may contain wheat" labeling is voluntary. A product with no warning may still be made on a shared line — the manufacturer simply isn't required to say so.

Silence there implies a safety nobody verified. GlutenCheck reads the warning when it exists, and tells you plainly when there isn't one.

THREE VERDICTS, NO FALSE CONFIDENCE

• Gluten-Free — no gluten source found, for the strictness you chose • Contains Gluten — a gluten grain is named, and we show you which • Needs Review — genuinely ambiguous, and we say so instead of guessing

WHY YOU AVOID GLUTEN CHANGES WHAT COUNTS AS SAFE

• Celiac Disease — the strictest reading; uncertified oats and cross-contact warnings are flagged • Gluten Sensitivity — gluten grains flagged, ambiguous cases surfaced • Wheat Allergy — wheat only; pure barley and rye aren't wheat allergens • General — the clear cases, without the noise

BUILT TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

94 ingredients with their aliases, and 113 rules, each carrying reasoning and a source — from the FDA gluten-free rule to GFCO guidance.

Buckwheat isn't wheat. Maltodextrin isn't malt. Distilled vinegar is fine; malt vinegar isn't. Plain "flour" on a US label means wheat. Oats are gluten-free in theory and cross-contaminated in practice. The traps that catch other scanners are written into the ruleset.

WORKS WHERE YOU SHOP

The classifier ships inside the app. It runs in a supermarket aisle with one bar of signal, or none. We never see what you scanned — your history stays on your phone.

The label reader handles ingredient lists in 17 languages, which helps with imports and with travelling.

PAY ONCE. OR NEVER.

• 10 scans every month, free, forever • Lifetime Unlock ($14.99) removes the limit — permanently • No subscription. No ads. No account. No newsletter.

The free ones sell your attention or your subscription. We'd rather be paid by you than by an advertiser.

IMPORTANT

GlutenCheck is an informational tool. It is not medical advice and not a gluten-free certification authority. Ingredient lists change without notice, and no app can see inside a factory. If you have celiac disease or a wheat allergy, verify critical products with the manufacturer, look for a certified gluten-free mark, and consult your physician or dietitian.
