Anam Cara is an app dedicated exclusively to grief and loss — for those going through the pain of losing a loved one, a pet, or an important relationship.

The name "Anam Cara" comes from old Irish and means "soul friend" — not a distant therapist, but a gentle companion who walks alongside you through the pain, for exactly as long as you need.

WHAT THE APP OFFERS

• Immediate comfort — a mood check-in (sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness, anxiety, numbness), each paired with an encouraging message written for that moment, plus a guided breathing exercise.

• Prayer and gratitude — for those who find comfort in faith, a moment of prayer and thanks; for those going through a breakup, an affirmation of self-worth.

• Memory journal — a private space to write about the person or pet you lost, with the option to share a thought with the community if you choose.

• Gentle reminders — quiet notifications on important dates: anniversaries, birthdays of the person or pet you lost.

• Community with real support — dedicated groups for each type of loss (parent, partner, child, grandparent, pet, breakup, divorce, relationship with a narcissist, and more), moderated with a language filter.

• Soul Light — create a digital memorial for a loved one, with a photo and important dates; light a candle or send a memorial gesture (rose, prayer, peace dove) and invite family or friends to do the same. The app automatically reminds you of important days — a birthday or the anniversary of their passing.

• Counseling and resources — a short self-assessment quiz, plus verified resources: crisis lines for suicidal thoughts, a directory for children/teens facing abuse, and a separate directory for adult survivors of sexual abuse — all free and always accessible.
