Features & Capabilities

It was never the app. It was the swipe. Elseway hands it back to you: reach for the feed, land on a moment of your own memories. Same swipe, none of the regret.

Elseway helps you break the doomscroll and spend less time in the apps that pull you in. Not by blocking you, but by giving the urge somewhere better to go.

Most screen-time apps do the same thing: they block you, time you out, or make you wait. Elseway does the opposite. When you open an app you've chosen to pause, Elseway meets you with your own memories instead: your favorite photos, reframed to feel new. The idea is simple. Your brain craves the swipe, not the app. Give the swipe somewhere else to land, and the pull fades. Same swipe, none of the regret. A moment later, you choose: continue to the app, or move on with your day.

This is substitution, not friction. Nothing to fight, nothing to feel guilty about, no willpower required. Just something else in the exact moment you'd usually fall in.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Choose the apps you want to pause, like TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube.
  • Open one, and Elseway offers a short feed of your own photos.
  • Swipe through for a moment, then continue to the app, or step away.
  • Set protection schedules for the times of day you most want to stay off the scroll.

WHAT'S IN THE FEED Your own camera-roll photos, nothing from the internet. Each one is reframed with a dated caption ("3 years ago...") so an old memory feels newly seen, and Pro adds a rotating set of new looks so the same photo never feels the same twice. Pro also keeps the feed clean, filtering out screenshots, receipts, and other clutter so only real memories surface. Personal, visually rich, never stimulating.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT Blockers make you feel restricted, so you bypass them or delete them. Elseway meets the urge with something better, right when it strikes. It's not a blocker, it's something else: your own photos, in the moment you reach for the feed.

WHAT YOU GET

  • A short substitute feed of your own memories
  • Your own camera-roll photos, reframed to feel new (Pro adds rotating restyled looks and filters out screenshots and clutter)
  • Choose which apps to pause
  • Protection schedules for your high-risk times of day
  • Adjustable timing to fit how you want to use it

SCREEN TIME PERMISSION Elseway uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) so you can choose which of your own apps to pause and when. You authorize it yourself during setup, on your own device, and can turn it off any time in Settings. Elseway never sees which apps you picked beyond what you tell it, never monitors anyone else, and is not a parental-monitoring tool.

PRIVACY FIRST Elseway has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. It collects nothing and sends nothing to any server. Everything stays on your device, and uninstalling deletes all of it. Full policy: https://elseway.app/privacy

Same swipe. None of the regret.
