Wabihana - Paint by Number

Upload a photo and it comes back split into numbered zones. Tap them one at a time until the picture is whole again. No timers, nothing to keep up with.

Upload a photo. A few seconds later it comes back as a paint-by-numbers picture, cut into numbered zones. Tap a zone and it fills with the right colour. Keep tapping and the photo comes back.

Your dog. Your grandmother's garden. The view from a balcony you liked. Anything you have a picture of.

Nothing here is timed and there is no streak to keep. Put a painting down for a month and it waits where you left it.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick a photo from your camera roll, or take one
2. Choose how fine you want the detail
3. Give it a few seconds
4. Start tapping

The levels run from 400 zones in 16 colours, which is about three minutes of painting, up to 5,000 zones in 128 colours, which is closer to half an hour.

WHILE YOU PAINT When you finish a colour the app moves to the next one by itself, so you are not hunting through the palette. Pinch to zoom in when the zones get small. Once a picture has been generated you can paint it with no signal at all: on a plane, in a tunnel, wherever you are. Finished paintings stay in your gallery.

NOTHING YOU WANT TO UPLOAD? There is a gallery of pictures already prepared. Animals, flowers, landscapes, cities, anime. Free to paint, no credits, no account.

PAINTING WITH SOMEONE Send a code or a link and up to six of you work on the same picture at once. Zones fill in as the others tap them.

IT RECORDS ITSELF Play any painting back from blank to finished, and share the clip if you want to.

ON IPAD Runs full screen, and Apple Pencil works well for the small zones.

YOUR PHOTOS We use your photo to build the painting, then delete it from our servers. We do not sell it and we do not train models on it. No ads while you are painting.

WHAT IT COSTS Nothing to start. You get free credits and more of them every day, which is enough to keep painting without paying. Wabihana Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly (US$4.99) or yearly (US$49.99); prices vary by region. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in Settings › your Apple ID › Subscriptions.
