WordHop teaches English reading to children ages 6 to 8 the way schools actually teach it — by sound, not by memorising whole words. A letter sound plays, pictures appear, and the child taps the one that starts with it. Correct answers celebrate. Wrong answers simply try again. No scores, no timers, no losing.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• 45 lessons across 9 units — A real synthetic-phonics sequence built on the Letters and Sounds progression used in primary classrooms. Units move from the first four sounds (s, a, t, p) through digraphs (ch, sh, th) to long vowel teams (igh, oa) and the two sounds of "oo". Each unit builds only on sounds already taught.

• Sounds first, then blending — The app speaks individual letter sounds, not letter names, so a child hears /s/ as in "sat" rather than "ess". Then it blends them into whole words. This is the step most matching apps skip.

• 53 original illustrations — Every picture was drawn for this app in one consistent cut-paper style. No stock art, no clip art, no photos.

• Four activity types — Match the first sound, blend and match, read the whole word, and flash cards for the tricky words English refuses to spell phonetically.

• Parental gate — Anything that leaves the learning loop (Settings, purchase, restore, external links) is behind an arithmetic or number puzzle a young child cannot solve. Purchases cannot happen by accident.

SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS

The Yearly plan is an auto-renewable subscription at $9.99 per year. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews at the same price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. The Lifetime option is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
