Spuren is the German word for “traces.” It is a private keepsake for preserving the traces people leave in your life before time softens or carries them away. Unlike a traditional journal, Spuren begins with people, not dates. Each person has a timeline where their words, gestures, stories, and the moments you shared can live together.

KEEP THE SMALL THINGS A trace can be: • Something they said • A compliment they gave you • A kindness they showed • A gift with a story behind it • A memory you shared • Wisdom they passed on • A habit, phrase, or way of being that was uniquely theirs

Add the story in your own words, record why it matters, and remember how it made you feel. Use an exact date when you know it, or a gentler description such as “Last spring,” “When we first met,” or “A long time ago.” Add photos and voice notes to preserve more than words. If a memory comes to you before a name does, save it first and connect it to someone later.

Export a readable copy of your traces whenever you wish. On supported devices, Apple Intelligence can privately help refine a trace, suggest feelings, offer a writing prompt, draft a letter, or reflect on the themes you have preserved. Processing happens on device.
