New: Loam now tells you when trails are blown out, not just when they're dry

Know if your local trails are rideable before you go.

Loam models the dirt itself: how much rain fell, how fast that soil drains, how much sun and wind the slope has had since, and how much canopy is holding the moisture in. No crowdsourced reports to wait on, and no account to make.

THE VERDICT, NOT THE DATA

Open the app and you get one word per trail network. PRIME means go. CAUTION means think about it. STAY OFF means you would be doing damage. DUSTY means rideable but blown out and loose.

You can dig into the numbers if you want them. Most days you will not need to.

WHAT IT KNOWS

Close to 1,500 trail networks across the US and Canada, each with its own soil type, slope, aspect, elevation and tree cover. Two networks an hour apart can dry days apart, and Loam accounts for that instead of treating a whole region as one number.

RIDE THE WINDOW

Conditions move fast after a storm. Every network shows seven days of precipitation history, a five day outlook, and how the last couple of weeks have trended, so you can watch the window open instead of hearing about it after it shut.

RIDE RESPONSIBLY

Loam gives you an estimate, not a measurement. It does not inspect trails and does not know about closures, hazards or maintenance. Obey land manager rules and trail closures, and use your own judgment about whether riding today would damage the trail.
