Features & Capabilities

Imagine every recipe you love in one place. Snap it, save it, and cook from clear, clutter-free steps. The good news? Dinner just got a whole lot simpler.

Focara Kitchen is a warm, personal recipe box for the dishes your family actually cooks — the card from Grandma's tin, the screenshot you saved last week, the blog recipe buried under ads.

SAVE EVERY RECIPE, EVERY WAY • Paste a link and import from almost any recipe website • Paste recipe text from Notes, a message, or an email — it's sorted into ingredients and steps for you • Snap photos of cookbooks, cards, and handwritten notes — smart scanning reads them into clean ingredients and steps, and strips the clutter • Or just type it in with a fast, structured editor

COOK HANDS-FREE • Cook Mode keeps the screen awake with big, readable steps • Easy Read highlights the ingredients inside each step, so a glance is enough with your hands full • Tap any step's timer to start it — timers keep running if you leave the recipe, and survive closing the app • Run multiple recipes at once and switch between them without losing your place

MAKE EVERY RECIPE YOUR OWN • Scale servings and watch the amounts adjust • Save your changes as versions — keep the original, and the way YOU make it • Jot notes after each cook: what worked, what to change, how it turned out • Show amounts in US or metric, per recipe or app-wide

DINNER, READY TOGETHER • Plan a meal and Focara builds the cooking timeline backwards from serve time • Each dish gets its own start alarm, so everything lands hot at once • Start cooking right from the timeline and move dish to dish

A SHOPPING LIST THAT SORTS ITSELF • Add a recipe's ingredients in one tap — duplicates merge automatically • The list organizes by store section: produce, dairy, meat, pantry • Plain water never clutters your list (it's assumed on hand — tap to restore)

SHARE ANY RECIPE • Send anyone a beautiful, ad-free web page of your recipe — no app required • The link shows the photo, ingredients, and steps, ready to cook from

MADE FOR REAL KITCHENS • Fully localized in 34 languages — recipe scanning works in most of them too • Your recipe box lives on your device — export everything, anytime • Free to use with ads; Focara Kitchen Pro removes all ads for less than a dollar a month

"Focara" comes from an old word for hearth — the warm center of the home where food and family meet. That's what this app wants to be for your recipes.

FOCARA KITCHEN PRO (OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION) Pro removes every ad. Nothing else is locked behind it — the whole recipe box is free. • Focara Kitchen Pro Monthly — $0.99 per month • Focara Kitchen Pro Yearly — $5.99 per year

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Prices shown are US pricing; your local price appears in the app.

User Reviews

I’m absolutely floored by how useful this app is. Focara is still very new, apparently only been released a few weeks- but the usability is off the charts. I say this as someone who has tried nearly every cooking or recipe app out there. I’ve spent a decade hopping from one system to another, including several years now with one of the more popular apps. I genuinely like Focara better. Strengths: recipe importing is fantastic. I can finally get recipes from my physical cookbooks to my phone, and importing from websites has been working beautifully too. Recipe organization is elegant. You get all the usual categories: breakfast, lunch, snacks… etc, plus 15 customizable categories. That’s more than enough for me. I also really like being able to filter by cuisine type, although I’d love to see those become customizable as well. I have plenty of Japanese, Thai, Hmong, and Vietnamese which I hesitate to lump together under “Asian”. And my mother in law will kill me if I put her traditional Colombian recipes under “Mexican”, so for now I’m hiding this app from her. Cooking view is useful, and the ability to save different “versions” of a recipe is one of my favorite features. I can never remember what I subbed last time so this is going to be handy for me. And having timers integrated within the app is a nice touch, as well as the ability to export your recipes to save a backup. I haven’t put the meal planning or shopping list through its paces, but guaranteed they’re going into my toolbox. Weaknesses: there’s still signs that this is a young app. I’d love to be able to reorder ingredients. And I really miss having nutrition facts attached to recipes. For now I’m putting the basics in manually in the notes section. But these are polish issues, not dealbreakers. The foundation of the app is unusually good. It already feels more useful to me than recipe apps that have been around for years, and I’m genuinely excited to see where the developers take it.
