Echo is a voice notes app that files what you say. Talk for a minute about an idea, a decision, or something you need to remember, and when you stop, Echo writes the note up, gives it a title, summarizes it in a sentence or two, and files it under one of your categories. Your library stays organized without you doing anything to keep it that way.

Capturing a thought takes one tap. Open Echo, press the microphone, and start talking. Your words appear on screen as you speak, so you can see that the app is hearing you correctly. There is nothing to name, nothing to tag, and nothing to file afterwards.

Every note keeps two versions of itself. The written-up version drops the false starts and the filler words while leaving your wording, your numbers, and the names you mentioned as you said them. The original transcript sits behind a toggle at the top of the note, one tap away, for the times you want to check what you actually said.

Finding a note again takes one of three routes. Your library is ordered by recency, category chips narrow it to a single subject, and search runs across titles, summaries, notes, transcripts, and tags. Echo Pro adds search by meaning, so a search for headache still turns up the note where you said migraine.

Echo starts you with six categories: Ideas, Journal, Work, People, Plans, and Notes. It creates new ones when your notes call for them. When a note lands in the wrong place, tap the category and move it, and Echo keeps the correction and files closer to your judgment over time.

Your notes sync across your devices through your Apple or Google account, and the app keeps working without a connection. Recording, transcription, reading, retitling, and keyword search all work offline. A note you record with no signal keeps its transcript and files with one tap once you are back online. Any note can be shared as plain text to Messages, Mail, or anywhere else you send things.

Transcription runs on your iPhone through Apple's speech recognition. The recording stays on the device, and only the text is sent to be written up and filed.

A free account includes unlimited recording, on-device transcription, keyword search, sync across devices, and 25 AI-filed notes each month, with individual notes of up to three minutes.

Echo Pro removes the monthly limit on AI filing, raises the length of a single note to fifteen minutes, and adds search by meaning. It costs $39.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan, or $5.99 a month.
