Why you're tired each morning
Your Apple Watch recorded last night. Wake weighs it against your own 30-day baseline and names the cause of the fatigue in two plain sentences: bed 42 minutes late.
Every other sleep app gives you a score and a graph. Wake gives you the reason underneath the score, in two sentences, before you are properly awake.
"You woke 4 times around 3am, with HRV 8% below your weekly median. Last night you went to bed 42 minutes later than your 30-day average. That delay alone fits the fatigue you're feeling." That is a whole Wake morning card. It is written on your iPhone out of the sleep data your Apple Watch already recorded overnight, so an Apple Watch is required for live reads.
NO WATCH YET
Tap "Show a sample read" on the empty state. Wake draws the morning card without a Watch, so you can see the shape of the thing before you commit to wearing one to bed.
WHY ONE CARD AND NOT A DASHBOARD
The only question you have at 7am is why you feel like this today. Wake answers that one and then gets out of the way. Nothing to interpret, no weekly score to chase, no graph to learn how to read.
WHAT WAKE READS
- Sleep stages, time in bed, and wake events from HealthKit
- Heart rate variability and resting heart rate from HealthKit
- Your own 30-day baseline, computed and stored locally
Wake compares last night against you, not against a population average. The baseline is yours, it is computed on your phone, and it stays there.
WHAT WAKE NEVER DOES
- Record audio (no microphone permission, ever)
- Send your sleep data anywhere (zero outbound network, verifiable with Charles or Proxyman)
- Stream you through a content library, sound effects, or guided exercises
- Streak you, badge you, or send more than one notification per day
WHAT WAKE IS NOT
Wake is not another sleep tracker. Your Apple Watch already does the tracking. Wake reads what the Watch wrote and tells you what it means. There is nothing here to play you either: no soundscape library, no guided exercises to work through in the dark.
ON DEVICE, NO ACCOUNT
Wake's explanation runs entirely on your iPhone via Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels). There is no account, no server, no cloud. Nothing to sign up for, and nothing to ask us to delete later. If you would rather check the network claim than take it, point Charles or Proxyman at the app: outbound traffic is zero.
