The Issue: Keeping our ageing populations healthy and physically active is essential to national prosperity, as it reduces pressure on our health and social care systems while enabling older adults to remain independent, contribute to their communities and support an estimated £100+ billion UK “longevity economy” through work, volunteering, and consumer spending. The answer: We need to change the story of how we age. From just 3 to 20 minutes per day of simple daily movement, we can create life-changing results for older adults. Why we created the 3-20 Way: The 3-20 Way app is a convenient gateway allowing users to access our video content, track their progress and record their goals and achievements as they engage with and benefit from our gentle daily movement programme. 3-20 Way subscribers choose how much time they want to dedicate each day and their preferred intensity level. All of the app's functionality will also be available on the 3-20 Way website, if users prefer to work on larger screen devices such as laptops and desktops. The core functionality of the app is the delivery of 'playlists' of short, 3-minute 'movement moment' exercise videos, supported by ancillary features including: curated playlists (AI-generated based on user input); user-designed playlists; user's notes and feedback, etc. At any time the duration, intensity and desired outcomes can be adjusted to accommodate changes in health or improvements in fitness, providing the flexibility for ongoing success. The app supports a user's ability to carry out everyday activities that have a big impact on mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Think: getting in and out of a chair, the car, or bed; feeling confident on stairs; carrying groceries; trimming your own toenails or tying your shoelaces; and not only getting down on the floor to play with your grandchildren, but getting back up again!
