Ear training that happens.
Ear training that happens.
Aubel is an ear training app for music students. Identify intervals, scales, and chords by ear, with a progression engine that adapts to what you already know.
You don't need to remember to practice. The morning alarm and Screen Time features force you to, so the habit forms regardless.
THREE GAMES (for now)
Intervals: Two notes, one gap. Major 3rd, Perfect 5th, Octave, the building blocks of every melody.
Scales: A scale ascending and descending. Major, Natural Minor, Dorian, Mixolydian. Tell them apart by sound.
Chords: Four notes in sequence, then together. Major, Minor, Diminished, Augmented, Dominant 7. Recognize the quality.
Train any one on its own, or mix all three.
PROGRESSION THAT FITS YOU
Aubel starts with what you already know and unlocks new material as you get accurate. No grade levels, no tests, just a moving target that sharpens your ear.
A streak counter, per-item accuracy, and a toughest-item card show you what to work on.
THE MORNING ALARM
Set a wake time. When the alarm fires, two notes play. You name the interval. Solve a few in a row and the alarm stops.
If you're not awake enough, mercy mode lets you off after a few wrong answers, but the ear training still counts.
FOCUS
Use Screen Time to lock distracting apps until you've solved a challenge. Open Instagram, solve five intervals, get fifteen minutes back. Earn access to your phone with your ear.
Aubel never sends data anywhere. Screen Time stays on your device.
WHO IT'S FOR
For music students, aural skills classes, AP Music Theory, and seasoned musicians who know the ear never stops getting sharper, no matter how long you've been playing.
WHY EAR TRAINING
A trained ear shrinks the gap between what you imagine and what you play. You hear chord changes coming. You catch your own out-of-tune notes. You learn songs from recordings.
Every music student knows ear training matters. Almost nobody actually does it. The problem isn't motivation. It's timing. The plan to practice later this week has lost to every other thing on the list since you started taking music seriously.
Aubel solves timing first. The session is 30 seconds, not 15 minutes. The alarm won't dismiss until you've named a few intervals. Screen Time won't unlock until you've solved a challenge. The practice happens because the apps you already use ask for it.
