Secure SSH tunnel Web Workbase
Access remote services through SSH tunnels — no VPN needed. Built-in browser, terminal, SSH key management, and zero data collection.
Remote Surface is a secure SSH tunnel web browser for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Connect to remote servers through encrypted SSH tunnels and access web-based development tools, runtime environments, and internal applications — no VPN required.
Designed for Developers and Operators
Whether you're accessing code-server instances, web-based AI coding tools, internal monitoring dashboards, or staging environments — Remote Surface gives you an encrypted channel straight to your remote web services.
Core Features
SSH Tunnel Management
Create and manage local port forwarding tunnels. Run multiple tunnels across multiple servers simultaneously, with dynamic local port allocation and instant switching.
Built-in Secure Browser
A full-featured browser optimized for accessing remote services, powered by WKWebView with modern web standards support. Multi-tab browsing with drag-and-drop reordering, independent caching, and fast switching.
SSH Terminal
Full interactive terminal powered by SwiftTerm with real-time output streaming, dynamic row/column resizing, auxiliary key bar, and clipboard support. Terminal snippets let you pin frequently used commands for one-tap execution. Switch seamlessly between browser and terminal.
SFTP File Manager
Built-in SFTP client for remote directory browsing, file upload and download, transfer queue management with progress tracking. Create directories, rename and delete files, preview file contents, and view file properties.
Jump Server Support
Establish multi-hop SSH connections through jump servers. Temporary tunnels are created and cleaned up automatically, enabling secure access to deep internal network services.
SSH Key Management
Generate, import, and manage SSH key pairs. Supports ed25519 and ECDSA (P256, P384, P521) algorithms. Keys are securely stored in the Keychain with passphrase protection.
Auto-Reconnect and Keep-Alive
Background keep-alive maintains active connections. Automatic reconnection with exponential backoff ensures stable recovery after network changes.
Keyboard Shortcuts (Mac)
Comprehensive keyboard navigation on macOS: Cmd+R to refresh, Cmd+W to close tab, Cmd+T for new tab, Cmd+D to duplicate tab, Cmd+Shift+T to reopen closed tab, Ctrl+Tab to switch tabs, Option+Tab to cycle focus between sidebar and content. Shortcut badges appear when holding the Cmd key.
Biometric Lock
Protect the app with Touch ID, Face ID, or device passcode. On Mac, the lock screen responds to keyboard shortcuts — press Escape, Space, or Return to trigger authentication. Devices without biometric hardware are handled gracefully.
Personalized Appearance
Three themes: Midnight Architect, Obsidian Matrix, and Solarized Light. Five accent colors to choose from, with smooth switching between dark and light modes.
Multilingual Support
Interface available in multiple languages. Switch anytime with instant effect.
Zero Data Collection
No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no backend servers. Your SSH credentials never leave your device. All data is stored locally using Keychain and SwiftData.
Use Cases
- Access code-server, OpenCode, and other web-based development tools on iPad or Mac
- Execute remote commands and operations via SSH terminal
- Manage and transfer files on remote servers

Security First
Remote Surface collects no personal data. We do not acquire, store, transmit, or process any personal information. SSH credentials are stored exclusively in the Keychain and are never sent to any external server. The app has no backend infrastructure — it is entirely self-contained. Host key verification protects against man-in-the-middle attacks.
Requires iOS 18.0 or later. macOS 15.0 or later.
