New in 1.2.3: optional iCloud sync for Pro — triggers, aliases, scripts, and maps in step across your devices. Plus #wait delays and $variables in trigger commands.
Mud Portal is a full-featured MUD client for iPhone — connect to any text-based multiplayer world with desktop-class power and a screen-reader-first design.
ACCESSIBILITY FIRST
Built for VoiceOver: every control is labeled, and incoming game text is read aloud as it arrives — choose Queue (one line at a time) or Interrupt (jump to the newest)
Gag triggers silence spam from VoiceOver, not just the screen
Bluetooth / hardware keyboard: Up/Down arrows recall command history
A real home for players who relied on accessible MUD clients of the past
CONNECT & PLAY
Full Telnet with 16- and 256-color ANSI rendering
Optional TLS encryption
Multiple simultaneous sessions with tab switching
Auto-reconnect when connections drop
TCP keep-alive for background persistence
GMCP support — if used: live HP/Mana/Move vitals bar, room tracking, and structured game data
SPLIT-SCREEN MAPS
Servers that use ANSI scroll regions get a pinned map above scrolling game text
Works automatically with standard VT100 cursor positioning
iCLOUD SYNC (NEW)
Optional sync for Pro members: keep servers, triggers, aliases, scripts, and maps in step across your devices via your private iCloud
Off by default — your data stays on your device unless you turn it on
Device-specific preferences (D-pad, haptics, font sizes) intentionally stay per-device
AUTOMATION
Powerful triggers — match by text or regex to highlight, gag (hide), rewrite lines, send commands, play sounds, or vibrate
Command aliases with argument substitution
Organize triggers, aliases, scripts, and timers into Classes you can enable or disable together
Tick timers — repeating commands on a configurable interval, with multi-command support
Built-in scripting language with variables, loops, conditionals, and functions — plus #wait for timed pauses in command sequences
Combat tracking with a real-time overlay and post-combat summary
Smart, context-aware command suggestions
SESSION LOGS
In-app log viewer with full ANSI color
Logs saved to the Files app (On My iPhone → Mud Portal) for backup and sharing
Record color or plain text — your choice
SOUNDS
Built-in alert sounds, or import your own from Files — preview before you assign
CONTROLS
D-pad with optional diagonals for movement
Four editable macro buttons — long-press to edit mid-session
Collapsible quick command bar
Command history with prefix search
Send blank lines (global or per-server) for games that expect them
Scrollback with scroll-lock indicator and new-line counter
EXTRAS
In-app Help & Guide
Adjustable font size per server
Configurable background timeout with graceful disconnect
NO ADS, NO GIMMICKS
Connecting, unlimited servers, maps, regex triggers, filtering, sounds, command history, and every accessibility feature are included for everyone — no ads, no tracking.

Tried several and none feel comfortable like this one. However, it would be awesome if the app could stay connected after closing the app. I know there are limitations as the documentation states, but somehow the app Termius is able to keep a Telnet session alive and shows on lock screen as an active connection when the app is closed. This would be epic!

I’m one week in and the app already outshines the competition. I’ve found the usability and functionality to be refreshing and intuitive so far. Will update as I continue to experience the app.
