Off-airport emergency spots
Now with a growing, pilot-built map of off-airport landing spots near you. See elevation, distance, and confidence at a glance. Add a spot in a tap to help fellow pilots.
Pilot Landing Spot is a crowd-sourced map of off-airport emergency landing spots, built by and for general aviation pilots flying single- and twin-engine piston aircraft.
Every cross-country leg has terrain where the nearest runway is out of reach. Pilot Landing Spot helps you build situational awareness ahead of time by showing pilot-reported open fields, roads, and clearings that other aviators have marked as potential precautionary or emergency landing areas — overlaid directly on the sectional chart you already fly with.
A MAP BUILT BY PILOTS, FOR PILOTS
Spots come from the flying community. When you find a field that could serve as an emergency option, mark it in one tap so the next pilot in that area benefits too. The more pilots contribute, the more useful the map becomes.
CONFIDENCE THAT GROWS WITH USE
Each spot carries a confidence rating. When more than one pilot reports the same location, its confidence rises — so you can quickly tell a well-corroborated spot from a single, unverified report.
SEE WHAT MATTERS AT A GLANCE
Tap any spot to see:
• Distance from your current position
• Field elevation in feet
• Confidence rating
• Exact coordinates
• When it was first reported
SECTIONAL CHART OVERLAY
Pilot-reported spots are drawn on top of a familiar sectional-style aviation chart, so you can read terrain, airspace, and nearby airports in the same view you already use for navigation.
LIVE GPS POSITION
Center the map on your live GPS location with one tap and instantly see which reported spots fall within range as you fly your route.
ADD A SPOT IN SECONDS
Spotted a long, open field on the ground? Double-tap the map to save it with its coordinates and elevation. Your report joins the shared map for every other pilot.
BUILT FOR PISTON PILOTS
Designed for the realities of single- and twin-engine piston flying, where knowing your off-airport options is part of good preflight planning and good airmanship.
