Every product lands in one of four bands: Whole Food (10), Minimally Processed (8–9), Simple Ingredients (5–7), or Ultra-Processed (1–4).

The Formulation Profile draws each marker class to scale — added colors, flavorings, emulsifiers, refined sugars, and more — with every contributing ingredient named. One marker class places a product in the Ultra-Processed band; additional distinct classes move it deeper. Tap any flagged ingredient to learn what it is and why it's a marker.

ALLERGENS, EVEN ON LABELS YOU CAN'T READ

Every result summarizes the allergens declared on the label — translated to English — with cross-contact ("may contain") advisories kept separate from declared ingredients. The summary reflects what's declared on the label you captured; always check the package.

BUILT ON NOVA

Scoring is based on the NOVA classification developed by researchers at the University of São Paulo, extended with DirektLabel's 1–10 placement. The engine is deterministic: the same ingredient list always produces the same score.

WHAT THE SCORE IS NOT

This measures processing, not nutrition. A minimally processed food can still be high in sugar, salt, or fat. Vitamins, minerals, preservatives, and antioxidants never affect the score — they're shown for awareness only. Not medical or nutrition advice.
