Pocket Sailing Logbook

Sailing Logbook is a simple, personal logbook built for day sailors — club members, charter guests, sailing school students, or anyone who wants a clean record of their time on the water.

Unlike passage-planning apps built for offshore cruising, Sailing Logbook is designed for the kind of sailing most people actually do: a few hours at a club, a race afternoon, a lesson, a bay cruise. Get in, log the sail, get on with your day.

QUICK ENTRY

Date and time are pre-filled when you open a new entry. Start typing a boat name and your recent boats appear — selecting one carries over the boat type, length, club, and other details automatically. Required fields are just two: date and boat name. Everything else is optional.

Log as much or as little as you want: wind speed and direction, sea state, distance, duration, skipper and crew roles, crew names, and free-text notes.

GPS TRACK RECORDING

Tap Start Recording before you leave the dock. Sailing Logbook tracks your position in the background — the phone can be locked in your pocket or tucked in a dry bag the whole time.

When you're back at the dock, tap Stop. Distance, duration, average speed, and max speed are calculated from your GPS data and filled into the entry automatically. Your full route is saved and displayed on a map with start and end markers.

A large-display mode in Settings switches the recording screen to high-contrast, large-format numbers — current speed prominent, with elapsed time and distance — readable in direct sunlight without squinting.

DASHBOARD

Your stats build up over time. The dashboard shows:

— Total sails, hours on the water, and nautical miles, all time and by year — Most-sailed boat — Monthly activity chart — Personal records: longest sail, longest distance, windiest day — Year-over-year comparisons

WORKS OFFLINE

Create and edit entries without an internet connection. Entries sync to the cloud automatically when you're back online. The app loads instantly from a local cache — no waiting for a network request just to see your logbook.

EXPORT YOUR DATA

Download your complete logbook as a CSV file from Settings. Every field, every entry, compatible with Excel and any spreadsheet tool. Your data is yours, always.

PRIVACY

No ads. No social features. No analytics. No third-party trackers. Your logbook is entirely personal — visible only to you.

Sailing Logbook requires a free account (email and password) to keep your entries backed up and accessible across devices.
