Flash Studio

This app has a lot of potential and works well when it actually functions, but constant technical issues make it frustrating to use. The search function is very poor and frequently returns no results at all, even for common models. On top of that, cloud slicing is unreliable. It often stalls out midway through processing and fails to complete, forcing you to restart the process and hope it goes through. Until these bugs and cloud stability issues are addressed, it is tough to recommend.

I set up my husband’s new FlashForge printer and was excited to have completed the test print. I downloaded the Flash Maker app and ended up having to download FlashStudio now that orca is no longer in use. That is where my nightmare began. After binding the printer to the app, I browsed through models and found one that was suitable for a single color print. I initiated the process and the app sliced the project and began sending it to the printer. Then…..nothing. I cancelled the print, restarted the printer numerous times since it was showing as busy in the app despite the fact that it wasn’t. I deleted the printer, then binded it again. Several times. This was followed by deleting my account and reopening a new account making me bind the printer yet again. Finally, the printer showed as idle. I thought I was home free. Nope!!! I had selected another print and sent the job to the printer. Nothing. The cloud task is stuck at slicing at 97% completion, and has been for 45 minutes. I have been fighting with this for 4 hours!!!! This is beyond ridiculous!!! Had I known it was going to be this difficult I would have chosen a different brand of 3D printer and avoided this disaster altogether. Needless to say, this was a birthday present that has become a HUGE disappointment!!!
